Bio Ali Ergun Ergen
Ali Ergun Ergen comes with a vast experience of more than 15 years in real estate, acquired both on the local market and internationally. Ali Ergun Ergen was also Chairman of ICSC Romanian National Committee (2008-2011) and part of ICSC European Advisory Board, time spent to bring substance to the retail industry.
Graduate of the Istanbul Technical University, Ali Ergun Ergen completes his education with a MSc. in Civil Engineering, Specialty in Construction Management. Starting with 1995, he furthers his studies in Civil Engineering, by participating to the seminars “Cooperation & Communication in Civil Engineering” and “PMI & Earned Value Analysis”.
The practice in this field coincides with his nomination as Planning Engineer in STFA Turkey, the most renowned Turkish services conglomerate in the field of constructions. Furthermore, he works as Planning Chief for several international projects in Turkmenistan and Kazakstan.
In 1998, he decisively contributes to the launch of the first modern shopping center in Romania, Bucuresti Mall as Technical Manager of Bayindir – Fiba Bucharest. Later on, he dedicates his efforts to building the second mall of Anchor Grup, implementing the project Plaza Romania and its own Movieplex cinema. Due to his management abilities and know-how of the real estate and retail market, he is offered the position of General Manager of Anchor Grup.
In 2005 Ali Ergun Ergen initiates, as Chief Executive Officer, a new move on the mall chess table: head of strategy of Băneasa Developments, company that operates Băneasa Shopping City.
The strategic planning and development of Baneasa Shopping City, the largest retail platform nationwide, anchored with IKEA, Bricostore, Mobexpert and Carrefour, marked a new era in Romanian retail. However, the bar was to be raised by the CEO himself, Ali Ergun Ergen embarking soon on an even more challenging project – the creation and implementation of Grand Cinema Digiplex – the first full digital cinema, a revolutionary concept that was about to bring not only the best quality screening in Romania, but also a wide array of opportunities for alternative content feature and multimedia events.
His name is synonymous with the evolution of retail in Romania, but also with great real estate developments in the segment’s early stages.
